A l'aube des années 50, nombreux sont les jeunes gens à rêver de devenir pilote de course mais qui ne disposent que d'un maigre budget dans cette Europe qui porte encore les marques profondes de la seconde guerre mondiale. Carlo Siciliani est l'un d'eux, et parvient à s'offrir une Fiat 500C Topolino neuve en décembre 1951 afin d'en découdre en compétition. La voiture est immatriculée début 1952 et immédiatement préparée afin de prendre part au Tour de Sicile le 9 avril 1952, en compagnie de son ami A. Netti sous le numéro 014. Cette première course est un succès puisque le tandem remporte la catégorie 750 cc au sein de laquelle la concurrence fait rage.
Grisés, les deux amis inscrivent la Topolino aux fameuses Mille Miglia, les 3 et 4 mai 1952 qu'ils terminent à la 179ème place, en 18h03min25s, résultat remarquable pour la catégorie de la voiture. Siciliani remplacera ensuite la 500C par une Fiat 1100, avant de piloter une Fiat 8V. Retrouvée dans le sud de l'Italie, cette Topolino a bénéficié d'une restauration complète dans le respect de sa configuration de course d'origine, avant que son propriétaire ne l'engage une nouvelle fois, mais en 2018, aux Mille Miglia, que la voiture a terminé sans encombre.
Accompagnée d'un important dossier historique comprenant la documentation sur la participation au Giro di Sicilia 1952 et au Mille Miglia 1952, les archives du musée des Mille Miglia, un certificat du registre officiel des Mille Miglia, l' " Estratto Cronologico " fourni par l'ACI, une certification ASI, une carte d'identité FIVA, des articles de journaux d'époque et des photographies en noir et blanc, cette adorable Topolino est une véritable pièce historique et constitue un des moyens les plus abordables afin de participer à la plus mythique des courses italiennes.
Belgian title - Winner of the 750 class in the 1952 Giro di Sicilia! - Reliable, restored car - Extensive documentation At the start of the 1950s, many young people dreamt of becoming racing drivers, but had limited means in a Europe which still bore the deep scars of the Second World War. Carlo Siciliani was one of them and managed to buy a new Fiat 500C Topolino in December 1951 with which to go racing. The car was registered at the beginning of 1952 and immediately prepared to compete in the Giro di Sicilia on 9 April that year, in the company of his friend A. Netti and with the racing number 014. The first race was a success, as the pair won the fiercely disputed 750 cc class.
Carried away by this result, the two friends entered the Topolino in the famous Mille Miglia on 3/4 May 1952, finishing 179th overall with a time of 18h03m25s, a remarkable result for the class of car. Siciliani then replaced the 500C with a Fiat 1100, before driving a Fiat 8V. Found in southern Italy, the Topolino underwent a complete restoration to its original racing specification before its owner entered it once again, this time in 2018, in the Mille Miglia, which it finished without any problems.
This adorable Topolino comes with an extensive history file which includes documents from its entries in the Giro di Sicilia and Mille Miglia in 1952, archives from the Mille Miglia museum, a certificate from the official register of the Mille Miglia, the 'Estratto Cronologico' supplied by the ASI, an ASI certificate, a FIVA identity card, press articles from the time and black-and-white photographs.
