Introduced at the 1956 Brussels Motor Show, the Fiat 600 Multipla was offered in three varieties, the four/five-seater, six-seater and taxi, the last of which featured a driver’s seat and a foldable front passenger seat to provide more cargo storage. Using the Fiat 600 engine and transmission, and a Fiat 1100 front suspension, the Multipla was a genius of packaging, providing seating for up to six in a vehicle that was only 50 centimeters longer than a classic Mini Cooper and used the same wheelbase as the Fiat 600 sedan.
Powered by an inline 4-cylinder engine and a 4-speed manual transmission, the Multipla was not only a fabulously versatile vehicle, it was evidence that postwar Italy was doing well and moving forward. This Multipla sustains that upbeat, optimistic thinking in a cheery, two-tone shade of dark and light green with color-matched wheels and whitewall tires. Inside, passengers will enjoy a matching interior and a trip down memory lane to a simpler time when less was more and life was about smiling and enjoying the journey.
