Plus confidentiel que le nom d'Abarth, celui de Giannini résonne pourtant dans le cœur des passionnés de sport automobile, notamment en Italie, où ce préparateur s'est beaucoup illustré avec des Fiat 500. C'est tout naturellement qu'il s'est penché sur le berceau de sa remplaçante, la 126, lors de sa sortie. L'exemplaire proposé présente l'intérêt d'avoir été préparé chez Giannini avant d'être vendu neuf à Catane, en Sicile, si bien que son homologation particulière est reportée sur son titre de circulation et ne laisse aucun doute sur son authenticité.
La préparation consistait à accroitre la puissance du 652 cm3 à 30cv, au montage d'un échappement spécifique, à l'élargissement des ailes, l'adaptation de suspensions renforcées et de freins à disques à l'avant tandis que des jantes spécifiques en alliage étaient montées. En 2018, son actuel propriétaire, collectionneur de Fiat 500 Abarth et Giannini a convaincu Marco Andronico, autre spécialiste en la matière, de lui vendre cet exemplaire qu'il détenait depuis 2010. Très saine, la 126 fut entièrement démontée et repeinte avec passage au four. L'intérieur fut restauré dans le respect de l'origine, à l'exception du compteur et du compte-tours siglés Abarth.
La mécanique, confiée au spécialiste renommé Enzo Barbagallo, fut portée à 698cm3 comme sur la GP 700 et atteint environ 35cv grâce à un nouvel arbre à cames et le montage d'un carburateur Weber de 40. Achevée en 2019, elle n'a depuis parcouru que 142 km. Rares par nature, souvent usées et maltraitées en compétition, les réalisations de Giannini sont convoitées, cet authentique exemplaire restauré avec soin séduira les connaisseurs.

He naturally turned his attention to its successor, the 126, when it came out. The car offered here has the advantage that it was prepared by Giannini before being sold new at Catania in Sicily, with the result that its special type approval is recorded on its registration certificate, leaving no doubt as to its authenticity.
The tuning work consisted in increasing the power of the 652cc engine to 30bhp, widening the wings, fitting a special exhaust, stiffened suspension, front disc brakes and special alloy wheels. In 2018, its current owner, a collector of Abarth and Giannini Fiat 500s, persuaded Marco Andronico, a fellow 500 specialist, to sell him this car, which he had owned since 2010. In very sound condition, the 126 was entirely stripped down, then repainted and oven baked. The interior was restored to its original specification, except for the speedometer and rev counter, which have Abarth logos.
The engine was entrusted to the renowned specialist Enzo Barbagallo and increased in capacity to 698cc, as on the GP 700; it now develops about 35bhp, thanks to a new camshaft and Weber 40 carburettor.
