Produced between 2004 and 2011, the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti advanced the famed Italian automaker’s high-end 2+2 grand touring tradition with V-12 power. The avant-garde body design was styled by Pininfarina and named in honor of Sergio Scaglietti, the legendary Modenese stylist and coachbuilder responsible for bodying some of the most beautiful Ferrari road and racing cars of the 1950s and ‘60s. As the replacement for the 456, the 612 Scaglietti was a true four-seater with sleek styling and supercar-level performance.
Design cues applied to the 612 Scaglietti, particularly the body-side scallops and headlights, handsomely pay tribute to the 375 MM (Mille Miglia) built in 1954 and commissioned by famed movie director Roberto Rossellini for his wife, screen siren Ingrid Bergman. Underneath that gorgeous exterior, the 612 was Ferrari’s second all-aluminium vehicle, using lightweight aluminum coachwork welded to an underlying aluminum spaceframe developed in collaboration with Alcoa.
Sharing its engine with the 575 Superamerica, the 612 Scaglietti is powered by a potent 5.7L quad cam 48-valve V-12 engine with an 11:1 compression ratio, competition-type dry-sump lubrication, and Bosch Motronic 7 engine management. An F1 6-speed semi-automatic transmission, adaptive damping suspension and 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes harness the power. Performance credentials include a top speed of 320 KPH (199 MPH) and acceleration from rest to 100 KPH (62 MPH) in 4 seconds. The 612 Sessanta (Italian for “Sixty”) is a special, limited 60-car version of the 612 Scaglietti commemorating Ferrari’s 60th anniversary.
Special features included 19-inch forged aluminium wheels, black chrome exhaust tips, a three-position electrochromic glass roof, a start/stop ignition button on the steering wheel, a Bose infotainment system and two-tone paint. This 612 Sessanta bears S/N 157627, and at the time of writing, the odometer reads 387 miles. Each of the 60 cars produced represents one year in Ferrari’s storied history and features a commemorative emblem on the center console, with each emblem including a different piece of artwork honoring Ferrari’s history. A matching emblem was on the torch that was used in the parade during Ferrari’s anniversary celebrations in 2007.
This 612 Sessanta was built to represent the year 2006 in Ferrari history. Ferrari considered the FXX Programme as its most significant milestone of 2006, and as Phil Bachman was an FXX Programme participant, Ferrari equipped this 612 Sessanta with a unique Giallo FXX on the emblem to match his FXX. Throughout Ferrari’s 60th anniversary literature, the 2006 commemorative artwork used a Rosso FXX. Sporting a unique three-stage Giallo and Bronzo Monte Carlo exterior finish, graced by Scuderia Ferrari front-fender shields, this singular 2007 Ferrari 612 Sessanta features a complementary Terra Bruciata and Cuoio leather interior.
Awesome performance is delivered by the 5.75L/540 HP DOHC V-12 engine, numbered 125939 and harnessed by an F1 6-speed automated manual transmission, ventilated 4-wheel disc brakes and the desirable, big-ticket HGT1 Package. Additional features include the Sessanta-specific three-position electrochromic glass roof, plus cruise control, automatic climate control, pushbutton ignition, a high-end Bose entertainment system, special exhaust tips and 19-inch forged aluminum wheels. Ferrari Classiche certified with its accompanying Red Book, this one-off 2007 Ferrari 612 Sesssanta includes Schedoni luggage.
Awarded Platinum honors at the 2013 Celebration Exotic Car Festival, it also features an engine bay signed by the Ferrari assembly line staff and comes with its window sticker.
