Six years after Ferrari introduced the outwardly very similar 550, the 575M arrived on the scene offering a number of important technical improvements over its predecessor. There is no question that the 575M was quicker, faster, more efficient, easier to drive at speed and just simply more refined as an overall package. While the number 575 indicated a bump in engine displacement, the M excited as it stood for Modificato. The 550 Maranello was only available with a 6-speed manual transmission in a gated shifter, but the 575M introduced the optional paddle-controlled F1 transmission to Ferrari V-12 motoring.
With crisp, lightning-quick shifts F1-equipped cars took the driving experience to another strata. It was hugely popular and offered an improvement to the brand by making the car easier to drive in traffic. This Nero-over-Cuoio 575M is equipped with the F1 transmission and has covered a mere 4,150 miles since 2002, the metric odometer showing 6,700 kilometers. The naturally aspirated 5.7L V-12 engine can propel the car to more than 200 MPH and hit 60 MPH from 0 in 4 seconds—all with the air conditioning on and the Hi-Fi stereo system blasting out its tunes.
The 4-wheel vented disc brakes keep all that performance in check, and the interior is optioned with the iconic Daytona seats and aluminum pedal trim.
