Based on Chrysler’s versatile “LX” vehicle platform, the boldly styled Dodge Magnum was in essence a grand touring-flavored station wagon variant of the upscale Chrysler 300. Sharing the 300’s wheelbase and powertrain options, including the 5.7L/340 HP Hemi V-8 engine, the Magnum was only produced for the 2005-2008 model years at Chrysler’s Brampton, Ontario, assembly plant. Based on a concept car displayed at the 2003 Los Angeles Auto Show, the production-ready Dodge Magnum SRT8 was first seen at the same venue in 2005.
First available for sale as a 2006 model, the Magnum SRT-8 benefited from the magic touch of the engineers at Chrysler’s SRT (Street and Racing Technology) division with the new 6.1L Hemi V-8 engine producing 425 HP, plus 20-inch wheels, firmer underpinnings, bigger Brembo disc brakes and styling tweaks. Delivering performance worthy of contemporary exotic Supercars, the Magnum SRT-8 provided family-friendly accommodations for five occupants with 27 cubic-feet of cargo space.
This collector-owned 2007 Dodge Magnum SRT-8 wagon features power from the 6.1L version of Chrysler’s modern Hemi V-8 engine delivering 425 factory-rated net horsepower without the usual cylinder-deactivation system used for non-SRT applications. Sharing its 5-speed automatic transmission with its corporate counterparts from Mercedes-Benz, this stunning performer features a Brilliant Black exterior finish over black and gray upholstery accented by red stitching.
Additional features, options and amenities are numerous, including a sunroof, power-adjustable driver’s seat, air conditioning, AM/FM stereo with CD player, tilt/telescopic steering column, cruise control, tachometer, 180 MPH speedometer, keyless entry, electronic stability control, heated mirrors, fog lamps and 4-wheel Brembo disc brakes.
