This 1959 Dodge D400 Power Giant flatbed truck was purchased by Dr. Berkowitz in 2021 from an enthusiastic caretaker and prior owner from Independence, LA. Powered by a polyspherical-head ("Poly") 2-barrel 318ci V8 engine, paired with a New Process 420 (NP420) 4-speed manual transmission. Other useful features a 2-speed Eaton rear axle, Muncie PTO (Power Take-Off) and Schwartz TC5 hydraulic dump bed with stake rails. According to the previous owner, the truck was purchased by them from Joel Fenger, a collector and professional restorer, from Chester, MT, who owned an antique auto museum.
He had purchased the Dodge from an estate a few years earlier, and it was understood to have been an original grain truck. Suspension is via heavy-duty leaf springs front and rear.
