The 1970 release of the 440 Six Pack engine was widely heralded in the automotive media, but it required respect. Having but one owner since new, this vehicle was purchased from noted performance dealer Chuck Hutton Company near Memphis, Tennessee, after a previous near-identical example was in a traffic incident soon after its purchase. This replacement was located by Hutton and, since it was not a factory Six Pack, that special equipment was installed on this car prior to final delivery. This car features a 440 CI engine and is equipped with the unique-to-1970 power-bulge performance hood.
The driveline was the bulletproof layout expected on a performance Mopar, and the rebuilt and dyno-tuned engine is backed by an A833 4-speed transmission and Dana 60 Sure Grip differential. Of course, being an R/T meant upscale appointments, and the paint on this example is rich FK5 Dark Orange Metallic with a beautifully complementary D6K4 Burnt Orange deluxe vinyl interior. Inside are bucket seats, a C16 center console with Hurst Pistol Grip shifter, Tic-Toc-Tach, 150 MPH speedometer, AM Chrysler Solid State radio, wood-grain-pattern trim and the pedal dress-up package. The R/T suspension has been rebuilt, and this car has both power steering and power brakes.
The exterior features chrome R/T emblems, rear-quarter accent scoops, a white Scat Pack rear stripe, chrome exhaust tips and a black vinyl top. Beyond the engine adaptations, this car rides on aftermarket 5-spoke wheels with chrome trim and BF Goodrich radial tires. This car’s provenance includes both the original bill of sale and the original manufacturer's statement of origin. The original owner's manual is a final touch. With a unique historical background and excellent curbside presentation, this vehicle was a proud member of the Scat Pack from day one, and it should become a source of enjoyment for its next caretaker.
