There was an old adage by racing promotors that said, “the cars are the stars!” That sentiment is very true in this instance, as this stealthy black 2011 Dodge Charger R/T was originally created as promotional car for the 2011 movie “Fast Five,” part of the Fast & Furious franchise. This car was one of just five produced for movie promotional use and is noted as the “red carpet car” in Rio de Janeiro. Showing 2,900 miles on its odometer, the car is accompanied by documentation for its export from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and a letter of authenticity from the film’s production company. Of course, Fast Five meant power, and here it comes from the factory-rated 5.7L/370 HP Hemi V-8 engine.
While the engine is no longer in production, it left an indelible mark on American performance. Backing it here is the 5-speed automatic transmission and the standard dual exhaust driveline. The car is done in Flat Charcoal exterior paint with minimal brightwork or identification, save for the white Fast Five fender callouts, the R/T grille and decklid emblems, and five chrome lug nuts akin to the infamous 1969 Six Pack Super Bee. Its accompanying 4-wheel ABS disc brakes slow it down. Inside is where it shines, as there is black leather upholstery with front bucket seats that are nicely embroidered with white piping.
The eight-way power seat with heat functions work with a multi-function steering wheel atop a tilt/telescopic steering column for optimal driver positioning. There is also air conditioning, cruise control, power locks, power heated mirrors, an AM/FM six-speaker stereo layout and front one-touch power windows. The car rides on its factory black five-spoke alloy wheels, completing the look of undercover star power.
