Only 3,300 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demons were constructed, and this car is tagged as No. 1,179 of that run. What most people don’t know is that some of the body colors offered among that group of cars are not common, and one of the hottest, Yellow Jacket, came on a mere 132 of the Demons produced. Its sting in this instance is a serious one, too, since ordering the Demon meant the purchase of the special 6.2L Hemi V-8 engine, whose supercharged configuration here meant an enormous 840 HP. The IHI supercharger on this model has a special emblem, and the performance was enhanced by the dual SRT Power Chiller and After-Run Chiller units.
Behind the engine is an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission with floor and paddle shifter options, while a limited-slip differential with 3.09 gearing out back allows it to either get into the 9-second range (traction-permitting) or attain reasonable highway mileage, if one can show restraint. Also part of the Demon is the digital SRT Performance Pages to program the suspension, even into Drag Mode, a transbrake and Line Lock, Launch Control and Brembo disc brakes. That Yellow Jacket color is accented here with the black roof, decklid and SRT spoilers.
Inside are Laguna leather and Alcantara heated and ventilated front seats, the rear seat option with a fold-down center, Wildwheel steering wheel with touch controls, pushbutton start, bright pedals and Uconnect Navigation with an 8.4-inch display, a rear back-up camera and popular audio features. There are some adaptations here using Dynomat insulation. (The cars are factory-built without sound deadeners). Of course, the Air Catcher headlamps, exclusive to the Demon Air Grabber hood, and Widebody fender flares all add to its appeal, with the crowning touch being the set of special SRT wheels and the Demon-branded Nitto tires.
