“Travelling the Chevrolet way in the Jet-smoother Impala is more relaxing than ever,” so stated Chevrolet as they introduced the slightly revised 1966 model. Continuing to bask in the glow of the early-1960s “glory days” when Chevrolet’s full-size Impala and lightweight Biscayne reigned supreme on the street and strip, full-size Chevrolets received all-new bodywork for 1965. Deceptively large with crisp, taut lines, the full-size Chevrolets received a minor facelift for 1966. Unmistakably 1966 were newly styled fenders, grille, bumpers and smart-looking wraparound taillights. Every Impala had front and rear wheel opening moldings, black-accented side and rear moldings, slender sill and hood windsplit moldings and bright drip moldings.

Just less than 655,000 Impalas were built and sold for the 1966 model year.
