This 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 from the outstanding Eddie Vannoy Collection is a stark reminder that America’s Sports Car is on a relentless track to maintain performance superiority in an ever-more crowded field of domestic and imported supercars. Chevrolet seems to have established a pattern of one-two punches with Corvette, following each introduction of a new generation with subsequent waves of power and performance. Just as it had in the C5 and C6 generations, in 2015, Chevrolet presented a new Z06 in the C7 Corvette’s second year of production, but the performance gap between the base and Z06 models was more pronounced than ever before.
Both models shared the same new and 60% stiffer aluminum frame and 6.2L all-aluminum V-8, but the Z06’s supercharger and dry-sump oiling system added another 195 HP for a total of 650, aided in its mission by a 7-speed manual transmission, a removable roof panel, front and rear aero devices, unique suspension with a wider track, wider wheels and more rubber, Magnetic Ride Control, unique front and rear bodywork, select carbon fiber panels with larger vents, electric power steering and an electronically controlled differential.
Finished in Blade Silver, this 2015 Corvette Z06 coupe beckons occupants with a beautifully designed interior featuring a red-on-black combination with heated and ventilated Napa leather bucket seats, a 220 MPH speedometer and programmable 8,000 RPM digital readout tach, dual-zone climate control, navigation, a power tilt/telescopic steering wheel, a performance data and video recorder, universal home remote and MyLink Bose sound system.
But wait, Chevrolet said, there’s more: the Z07 Performance Package, available only on the Z06, which provided more grip in the form of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires on black Z06 alloy wheels, Brembo carbon-ceramic brake discs with painted calipers, a carbon fiber front splitter with larger winglets and carbon fiber side extenders, and an adjustable 59mm clear plastic Gurney flap. In other words, it’s all the “Right Stuff” to take the Z06 to the outer limits. Furthermore, this Z06 is serial number 3, one of the earliest production C7 Z06s built, and shows 276 miles since new.
