Being offered at no reserve, this 1975 Cadillac Deville offers a wonderful opportunity to experience a classic luxury model. With an odometer that shows only 12,180 miles, this car appears to have been treasured carefully, its body styling denoting a refined elegance from every and any angle. The era of disco, Captain and Tennille’s hit “Love Will Keep Us Together” and late-night’s “Saturday Night Live” was dawning, and this Deville seems to reflect those simpler times with its soft-tone Knickerbocker Tan exterior paint, tan formal vinyl top and plush beige leather interior.
Thanks to the ongoing fuel crisis that year, the company was heralding mileage advances for the 500/180 (SAE net) HP V-8 engine, which benefited significantly that year from its first application of catalytic converters and the HEI ignition system as standard equipment, making engine tuning far more efficient. Behind this went a Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission with a mileage-friendly torque converter and a 2.73 final gear ratio. A standout in the full-size models of the era, the car’s overall length is an incredible 230 inches riding on a 130-inch wheelbase, with front power disc brakes as standard equipment.
As noted, the exterior paint selection seen here was subdued, but luxury abounds once inside. This includes air conditioning, an AM/FM stereo, cruise control, power windows and locks, a power radio antenna, pedal brightwork and select wood-grain trim treatments. The outside is accented by the safety-oriented chrome bumpers, quad square-design headlamps, exquisitely detailed Cadillac hood ornament, script Cadillac mirrors, rear fender skirts and lower rocker moldings. Keeping the road connected to all of this are whitewall tires mounted on Tru-Spoke wire wheels, a fitting accompaniment to the rest of its mechanical beauty.
Now, almost 50 years later, a new owner has the opportunity to experience the honored mystique of Cadillac ownership with this low-mileage Deville, one premier motorcar of the 1970s.
