Hee Haw and the Grand Ole Opry banjo-picking comedian David Akeman, better known as “Stringbean,” lived a very humble life. Growing up in the depression, he lived frugally with the exception of his only indulgence, his Cadillac. An Opry legend, Akeman and his wife were tragically murdered by home intruders shortly after his purchase of his beloved Coupe DeVille in November of 1973.

The fourth generation Cadillac Coupe DeVille was totally redesigned for model year 1971 and set a record for interior width. Offered in three body configurations, the lineup was designed by famed GM stylist Bill Mitchell, responsible for some of their greatest models. A 472 cubic inch 370-hp V-8 engine was standard with an optional 500 cubic inch plant also offered. A three-speed TH400 automatic transmission was also standard for both powerplants.

Finished with a distinctive patterned interior and fitted with a grand array of Cadillac period luxury; this Cadillac presents a rare opportunity to own a piece of country music history.
