Few objects, let alone automobiles, represent the prosperity of the postwar era with more flash than the 1957-58 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham. At over $13,000 new, it was a massive, tech-laden show car available in showrooms and cost more than a standard Rolls-Royce of the time. Its GM Motorama-derived features included suicide-style doors, a stainless-steel roof and the world's first air suspension. With an equipment list that reads like a luxury car today, it lacks nothing: dual heaters, a power-adjustable front seat, automatic headlamps, a power trunk lid, and even polarized sun visors were included.
The Cadillac Eldorado Brougham's exceptional level of opulence remains immediately visible in the first-year example offered here. The two-tone gray interior exhibits limited signs of use and remains fitted with luxurious features, including the Autronic Eye, which automatically dims the high beams. It features correct hubcaps and thin whitewall tires and is powered by a 365/325hp V8 engine with automatic transmission. This is one of 400 built in 1957, with 704 built in total production.
