Finished in Royal Maroon, this 1949 Buick Super Sedanet underwent a 6-year frame-off restoration emerging with professionally rebuilt mechanicals, concours-quality plated and polished brightwork and a tan leather interior, including the headliner. Powered by the venerable 248 CI Fireball Dynaflash inline 8-cylinder engine with the valve-in-head and a Dynaflow automatic transmission, the Super is fitted with rear fender skirts, a chrome grille and bumpers, twin sideview mirrors, side trim and more, lending it a sporty but conservative level of style.

Rolling on wide whitewall tires with steel wheels, chrome trim rings and polished hubcaps with Buick scripting, the Sedanet fastback design was one of the most eye-catching styles of 1940s automotive design, exuding elegance and energy in one package. The Super debuted for 1940 and would see production sporadically through the years, offering customers a unique automobile blending smaller, more efficient engines with a larger body and more comfortable interior.

This was in contrast to the Buick Century, which paired a smaller body with a larger-displacement engine, providing exceptional performance with minimal creature comforts, a formula which would later be considered the perfect recipe for the muscle car. While the 1940 lineup featured the fastback design, the look would be refined through the years after World War II, culminating into a fresh makeover for the 1948 model year, bringing about a lower beltline, cleaner use of brightwork and an overall sense of modernity and movement. This generation of Buick would prove one of the most popular ever produced, particularly as the fastback Sedanet body.
