A unique moment in automotive history, the Buick Super sought to incorporate higher levels of comfort and amenities in a vehicle with a more efficient engine, keeping costs reasonable. Emphasizing luxuriousness over performance spoke well to a number of consumers who were also impressed by the fuel efficiency that could be delivered from a larger-scale luxury car.
