A unique moment in automotive history, the Buick Super sought to incorporate higher levels of comfort and amenities in a vehicle with a more efficient engine, keeping costs reasonable. Emphasizing luxuriousness over performance spoke well to a number of consumers who were also impressed by the fuel efficiency that could be delivered from a larger-scale luxury car. Like all carmakers, Buick’s postwar lineup was heavily based on its prewar designs, but a mild refresh for 1946 brought about beautifully sculpted, fadeaway front fenders and a revised grille that set the tone for an otherwise restrained use of brightwork.

Exceedingly popular, this generation of Buick has consistently proven to be a gem with collectors and enthusiasts alike. This 1948 Buick Super Convertible presents magnificently well in light yellow with a red-piped brown soft top. Subtle brightwork is present, such as the bombsite hood ornament and the ornate bumper guard fronting the wide set chrome grille. The car is further dressed with chrome bumpers with front and rear beauty bars, dual spotlights, amber fog lights, fender skirts and bright window and side trim. Power is delivered by the inline 8-cylinder engine and paired with a column-shifted manual transmission.

The interior is upholstered in red and white with black trim, and includes a black and white-painted dashboard fitted with a clock and full instrumentation. Rolling on wide whitewall tires with polished wire wheels, this Buick Super convertible is a visual showstopper.
