For 1991, Buick shocked the press and public alike with the reintroduction of the Roadmaster name. Having been absent from the Buick lineup for more than 30 years, and long being the mark of Buick’s finest, the new Roadmaster played the old-school luxury card very well with a lengthy wheelbase and matching body, ample interior room, powerful engine and a long succession of luxury amenities. The Roadmaster Estate wagon joined the lineup, too, giving buyers the opportunity to have a true full-size, rear-wheel drive station wagon complete with the Vista Roof fixed glass panel over the backseat that cleverly led into the integrated luggage rack.

This 1992 Roadmaster Estate has been treated to custom US Mags 5-spoke alloy wheels wrapped with low-profile tires lending it a slightly lowered look. The entire image is daring, aggressive and an interesting yin-yang with the original family cruiser style. Powered by the 5.7L V-8 engine and an automatic transmission, the Roadmaster features a split-bench seat up front with a fold-down center console with a unique flip-forward cup holder, full instrumentation (including a tachometer), power windows, power locks, third row seating, leather upholstery and much more.

Presented in white with original simulated wood-grain siding, the dark blue interior has always proven to be a very comfortable environment, especially on long trips. Interestingly, while the 1991 to 1996 Buick Roadmasters largely looked very similar, minor details separated the years and Buick worked diligently to increase power output from the engine. By the time the last Roadmaster rolled off the assembly line in December 1996, just over 225,000 were produced in both Estate and Sedan. It’s been said production of the Sedan outnumbered the Estate by about 5 to 1.
