The resuscitation of the Bugatti marque by the VW Group in 2006 remains one of modern automotive history’s most compelling legends, a triumphant revival of a storied racing brand that achieved goals of utmost excellence across the board. Ten years after its introduction, the modern Bugatti hypercar underwent a significant update in the form of a brand-new model.

At the Geneva Salon in March 2016 Bugatti Automobiles SaS finally unveiled a successor to the Veyron 16.4, which this time was named after a far more significant works racing driver: celebrated Monégasque legend Louis Chiron. The new Bugatti Chiron shared many of its predecessor’s features, carrying over the prior model’s all-wheel drive, rear-mid-engine architecture, its approximate coachwork dimensions, and most importantly, the aluminum alloy 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W-16 engine. Yet despite this outward consistency, 95% of the Veyron was changed in the new model.

The Chiron is primarily composed of carbon fiber, from the driver’s cell and LMP1-standard monocoque chassis to the stunning coachwork. The revised body shape evokes two important commemorative design cues, namely the C-shaped element just aft of the doors (a feature in pre-war models like the Type 41 and Type 46, and coincidentally representative of Chiron) and the barely-there dorsal fin on the roof that extends into a subtle tailfin, in homage to the Type 57SC Atlantic, that Golden Grail of Bugatti collecting.

The drivetrain was further developed from the outgoing Veyron Super Sport with larger two-stage turbochargers, larger catalytic converters, and a new titanium exhaust system, all of which combine to develop 1,479 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque. Mated to an adaptive Haldex all-wheel-drive system with a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle, this outrageous power envelope is capable of launching the Chiron to 60 mph from standstill in an astonishing 2.4 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 261 mph.

Purpose-built tires and a multi-adaptive suspension with ancillary chassis technologies keep all the Chiron’s torque compliant on the road, while stopping power is provided by Formula One-specification disc brakes with gigantic 16.5-inch carbon ceramic rotors anchored by eight-piston titanium monobloc calipers (manufactured with a 3D printer). These brakes are so formidable that they can stop the car from 249 mph in under 10 seconds.

And like the Veyron, the Chiron featured cabin amenities that would rival a luxury clothier for elegance, with diamond-stitched leather seats and paneling complementing polished aluminum hardware. Sealing its cachet as an instant collectible, the Chiron was bequeathed with unequivocal rarity when it was earmarked for a production limit of just 500 examples in all variants. One of these would go on to set a new production car top speed at 304.773 mph.

With the introduction of these different editions, the original Chiron was ultimately produced in an exclusive batch of approximately just 207 examples. It remains the defining Bugatti of our current era, ably carrying the mantle of Molsheim’s ultimate hypercar.

Claiming a life of minimal driving use under the fastidious care of the original owner, this magnificent Chiron is beautifully finished in the elegant color combination of French Racing Blue with exposed blue carbon fiber over a two-tone interior of French Racing Blue over Deep Blue.

The consignor of the Bugatti was invited by the manufacturer to view this car in New York, and after being duly impressed he signed a sales contract by October 2016. With the car allocated for delivery through official marque distributor Braman Motors in Miami, Florida, the owner made payment to the dealer in August 2017, and took delivery in January 2018, as clarified by sales paperwork on file.

Since that time the Bugatti has been minimally driven, almost exclusively limited to annual service visits and occasionally showings, such as an appearance at the 2019 Celebration Exotic Car Festival outside of Orlando, Florida. In July 2021 the Chiron was treated to a four-year service at Braman Motors that included a software update, new spark plugs, a fluid service, and attention to the rear wing. The car was also fitted with a full front clear bra with self-healing Ceramic Kavaca paint protection film. In preparation for the current offering, the car received an additional major service in September 2023.

Accompanied by the metal handover box designed to house the standard key and the speed key, USB drive, owner’s manuals, and a set of US-specification rear bumperettes, this outstanding Chiron evokes the spirit of Molsheim’s great competition achievements, from the hyper-successful Le Mans-winning pre-war racecars to the more recent record-breaking speed demons.

At the time of cataloging, the odometer displayed a desirably low figure of just 1,489 miles, and the car continues to present with showroom-level quality. Ideal for special occasion driving for the discerning marque collector, or presentation at regional concours d’elegance and supercar events, this remarkable Bugatti would constitute a crowning acquisition for any connoisseur of modern speed machines.
