BMW and its M-division gave birth to a legend by slotting a modified inline six-cylinder engine sourced from the M1 into their beautifully styled 6-series coupé. Dubbed the M6, this sat at the top of the pecking order of the BMW range and proved to be a big success for the company.

At its time, the M6 was the second-fastest BMW ever built behind the M1, topping out at over 250 km/h. Along with its stunning performance, the M6 was outfitted with all the luxury accoutrements that BMW’s customers had become accustomed to, making it the perfect car for extended road trips, crossing continents in leaps and bounds at high speed.

Delivered new to Japan and finished in subtle BMW Diamantschwarz metallic over a grey leather interior, this M6 remained in Japan until mid-2016 when it was purchased by the consignor and imported to Switzerland to be included in his spectacular collection of BMWs. Showing just under 38,300 km on its odometer, this would be a wonderful example to drive and enjoy of what was then BMW’s ultimate driving machine.

BMW et son département M ont donné naissance à une légende lorsqu'ils ont installé, après l'avoir modifié, le six-cylindres en ligne d'origine M1 dans leur magnifique coupé de la Série 6. Appelée M6, cette voiture s'installa au sommet de la gamme BMW et se révéla être un immense succès.

La M6 était alors la deuxième BMW la plus rapide, après la M1 : elle dépassait les 250 km/h. Cette éblouissante performance s'accompagnait de tout le luxe auquel étaient habitués les clients de BMW, ce qui rendait cette voiture parfaite pour de longs parcours routiers effectués à vitesse élevée d'un bout à l'autre d'un pays.

Peinte du noir métallisé Diamantschwarz raffiné de BMW et garnie de cuir gris, cette M6 fut livrée neuve au Japon, où elle demeura jusqu'à mi-2016, date à laquelle son vendeur l'acquit et l'importa en Suisse pour lui faire rejoindre sa magnifique collection de BMW. Elle affiche à peine 38 300 km au compteur. C'est un merveilleux exemplaire, à conduire et à savourer, de ce qui fut la suprême routière de BMW.
