In the early 1960s, Burkhard Bovensiepen created an aftermarket Weber carburetor kit for the BMW 1500 as a side project to his Alpina typewriter business. This would quickly expand to more BMW tuning and much success preparing various BMW models for racing, resulting in prestigious championship wins in numerus categories including the European Touring Car series. By 1988, Alpina’s work with BMW had become so integrated that it withdrew from racing and began working as a manufacturing partner with BMW on custom high-performance versions of select BMW models. The example on offer is a 1995 BMW Alpina B10 3.0 Allrad finished in black over a black interior.
This limited edition B10 is No. 38 of just 64 B10 3.0 Allrads built between 1993 and 1995. Starting with BMW’s all-wheel drive 528ix, Alpina replaced the conventional 2.8L motor with a 3.0L, Alpina-tuned, DOHC, inline 6-cylinder engine that produces 231 HP and 230 lb-ft of torque. This increased power was then fed through an automatic transmission and distributed to the Allrad’s Alpina custom wheels via BMW’s all-wheel drive system. Inside, this special Alpina-modified BMW features a black leather interior with dual-zone climate control, an updated Sony radio and a serialized Alpina plaque.
On the exterior, this B10 is distinguished by its rear spoiler, front air dam, projector headlamps, front and rear fog lights, sunroof and gold Alpina pinstripe graphics. A well preserved and rare piece of BMW and Alpina history, this 1995 BMW Alpina B10 3.0 Allrad is being offered with just 80,226 kilometers (about 49,850 miles) on its odometer.
