Owned by our vendor since 1987, this Mk VI Bentley is looking for someone to complete it’s stalled restoration. Offered without reserve. Introduced in 1946, the Mk VI was Bentley's first post-war model and the first vehicle ever offered by the company with factory-designed coachwork. Built around a massive cruciform-braced chassis with independent front suspension and a leaf-sprung 'live' rear axle, it was fitted with a freshly developed 4,257cc OISE (overhead inlet side exhaust valve) straight-six engine mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox.
Capable of over 100mph when clad in the factory's understated 'standard steel saloon' coachwork, the Mk VI quickly developed a reputation for being a refined yet responsive drive. Our vendor acquired B54DA in 1987 and it was his carriage of choice for various UK holidays down to Cornwall giving 25 years 'good service' It continued to be used and maintained until 2013 when a start was made to restore the Bentley to it’s former glory. As you can see, this was not completed and offers an opportunity for an enthusiast to finish the car's restoration.
Parts removed that are viable, such as the front wings, are included and we recommend your inspection at our sale to establish just how much work remains to be carried out. Offered without reserve.
