JAGUAR'S $130K BET BEGINS THIS OCTOBER

After an extended period of silence, Jaguar is preparing to reveal the car that could redefine the brand's future. JLR Chief Growth Officer Lennard Hoornik has confirmed that the production-ready Type 01 electric grand tourer will make its world debut this October in New York. More than just another EV launch, the four-door flagship represents a complete shift in Jaguar's business strategy. Built on the all-new 800-volt Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), the sleek 204.7-inch (5,200-mm) model is designed to compete directly with ultra-luxury brands such as Bentley rather than conventional executive sedans.

Underneath its dramatic styling lies equally ambitious engineering. The Type 01 features advanced silicon-carbide inverter technology and a tri-motor electric powertrain expected to generate more than 1,000 horsepower (1,013 PS) and 959 lb-ft (1,300 Nm) of torque. Jaguar is targeting a real-world driving range of around 400 miles (643 km), while its 350-kW DC fast-charging system should recover approximately 200 miles of range in only 15 minutes. Yet perhaps the biggest gamble isn't the technology—it's the price. With an expected starting figure above $130,000 (£100,000), Jaguar is abandoning the traditional premium segment in favor of an exclusive, high-end market where design, luxury, and rarity are expected to define success.

Can Jaguar's bold move into the ultra-luxury EV segment restore the brand's prestige, or is this its biggest commercial gamble yet?
