Hyundai has surprised performance EV fans by significantly lowering the price of the 2026 Ioniq 5 N. In a market where sporty models usually become more expensive, the 641-horsepower (650 PS) electric hot hatch now starts at $61,500 (including destination), thanks to a substantial $6,300 price reduction. That makes Hyundai's flagship performance EV even more competitive while buyers continue waiting for the upcoming Ioniq 6 N sedan.

What's even more impressive is that Hyundai didn't reduce equipment to achieve the lower price. Instead, the company improved the car with meaningful upgrades. The previous CCS charging connector has been replaced by a built-in NACS port, giving owners direct access to Tesla's extensive Supercharger network without relying on adapters. Hyundai also upgraded its drifting technology by replacing the original system with the new 10-stage N Drift Optimizer, allowing drivers to fine-tune the vehicle's behavior for different driving styles and skill levels.

Performance remains as thrilling as ever. The dual-motor setup still produces 641 hp (650 PS) and launches the Ioniq 5 N from 0-60 mph in just 3.25 seconds (around 3.4 seconds to 100 km/h). Despite weighing 4,861 lbs (2,205 kg), the electric hatchback continues to deliver impressive acceleration and track-ready capability while remaining practical enough for everyday use.

The model also retains its estimated 221-mile (355 km) driving range, proving that Hyundai has focused on increasing value rather than cutting performance. By combining a lower entry price, upgraded technology, and access to one of the world's largest charging networks, the 2026 Ioniq 5 N has become an even stronger contender in the high-performance EV segment.

Does the $6,300 price cut make the Ioniq 5 N one of the best performance EV bargains available today? Would you choose it over the upcoming Ioniq 6 N? Or do you think traditional gasoline-powered sports cars still offer the better driving experience?
