Aimed at the growing ranks of owner-drivers in the tradition of its predecessor, the 20/25 was a direct competitor to the Alvis Speed 20, Hispano-Suiza HS26 and large 20 HP Sunbeams. The OHV inline 6-cylinder engine was similar to that of the outgoing 20 HP, enlarged to 3669cc and now paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox featuring synchromesh on third and top gears, endowing the new Rolls-Royce with 76 MPH speed potential. According to marque experts, 3,827 examples of the 20/25 were produced through 1936. Bearing Chassis No. GDX15, this 1930 Rolls-Royce 20/25 is one of just two Rolls-Royce chassis that were rebodied with a van body by Vincent of Reading for the world-renowned British spirit merchants Justerini & Brooks. Today, GDX15 stands as the only surviving example. The product of a 22-year, nut-and-bolt, rotisserie restoration using original parts sourced from England, GDX15 is powered by a matching-numbers 3669cc inline 6-cylinder engine, which is paired with a floor-shifted 4-speed manual transmission. Featuring the Royal coat of arms and iconic J&B logo, hand-painted on the van body by James Race, the 20/25 is accented by a polished hood, black paint finish and a half-mile of hand pinstriping added to create the wicker pattern on the exterior. The driver’s compartment is trimmed in saddle upholstery with rich wooden accents, and the cargo compartment features tongue-in-groove White Oak flooring with inlaid Black Walnut. Other highlights include a Spirit of Ecstasy radiator mascot, full-size wheel covers with pinstripes, a side-mounted spare, dual horns and bright bumpers and trim. Part of a climate-controlled private collection since 1992, this unforgettable 20/25 has earned multiple accolades including the Chairman’s Award and Strother MacMinn Design Award at the 2016 Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance, 1st Place at the All British Fall Classic Meet in 2016, Best of Show at the 2016 Carmel Mission Classic in Monterey, California, and most recently, 1st Place at the 2017 Rolls-Royce Grand Nationals. https://www.mecum.com/lots/1087900/1933-rolls-royce-20-25-delivery-van/
