I bought my used Renault Captur two years ago, and it's been a real lesson in what you need for Dubai. It's a stylish little car, and for most of the year, it's perfectly fine. Driving around neighborhoods like JLT or Marina is easy. It's small, so parking is never a problem. The 1.3-liter engine is okay for getting around the city, and the manual gearbox makes driving feel a bit more involved. For a small car, the air conditioner works surprisingly well on most days. But I have to be honest about the challenges. The engine feels underpowered when I need to merge quickly onto a fast highway like Sheikh Zayed Road. And during the peak of summer, the AC really has to work hard to cool the cabin down. The small size that's great for parking also means it's not the most comfortable for long drives to Abu Dhabi. It's been a reliable first car for me. Running costs are low, which is a big plus. It's perfect for a single person or a couple who mainly stick to the city. But if you do a lot of highway driving or have a family, you might want something with a bit more power and space.
