The 1965 Volvo 121 Amazon Estate stands as a practical yet stylish example of mid-century Scandinavian automotive design. Built with durability in mind, it reflects Volvo’s growing reputation for safety and reliability during the 1960s. Its clean, understated lines are complemented by subtle chrome detailing, giving it a timeless, functional elegance rather than flashy appeal. The estate version adds a layer of versatility, offering generous cargo space while maintaining a comfortable passenger cabin. Under the bonnet, the car typically features a robust inline-four engine, known for its dependability rather than outright speed.

This 121 Amazon presents very well in Pearl White with contrasting red interior. Ken Rudd was a notable engine tuner in the 60’s, Volvo sent circa 100 cars to him to receive his performance and handling package. Few of these would be the estate version, it is not known how many of these have survived, although it is likely to be no more than a handful. Restored in 2003, this Volvo presents very well, the bodywork is exceptionally tidy, as is the interior. A Ruddspeed plaque adorns the rocker cover, although it is not known to what extent this car was enhanced.
In dry storage for the last few years, this Amazon Estate has just benefitted from a recent battery, new clutch master cylinder, dynamo and a service. These Volvos represent a bygone age for the Swedish manufacturer, uncomplicated design yet exceedingly robust. Consigned by Stewart Banks
Interested parties should note that this Volvo has a fault when the engine warms up. There is light blue smoke emitting from the exhaust which we believe to be valve stem oil seals.
