The Polo Coupé offered a more sporting air than its 'breadvan' and Derby saloon siblings but sold in fewer numbers, which in turn means fewer opportunities to buy one today. MPH's 1993 example has had three previous owners and has covered 37,600 miles from new. Its service history runs from its June 1993 PDI to the middle of January this year when it was serviced and the cambelt changed. Externally (paint, bodywork, trim and wheels/tyres) it is in good condition and the interior, as with all Volkswagens from this period, has lasted well, seats, door panels and headlining all being very presentable, while it should be noted the steering wheel and radio are of the type originally fitted.
It starts, runs and drives well and the engine bay is notably clean and tidy. Thoroughly checked-over by the Heritage Skills Academy in February 2020, it is a highly usable, affordable route into modern classic ownership.
