L'histoire de notre Spitfire MK3 est peu commune. En effet, ce joli petit roadster fut acheté en 1978 pour le fils de notre collectionneur héraultais qui venait juste de passer son permis. Ce dernier fut particulièrement heureux de ce présent, même s'il nous a confié que c'était une voiture à ne pas mettre entre toutes les mains et qu'il avait connu à son volant ses premières émotions et ses premiers dérapages d'automobiliste. Lors de son achat la voiture était en état d'usage. Elle fut partiellement restaurée à cette époque et repeinte selon les goûts de son jeune propriétaire dans une jolie teinte vert olive, ce qui lui confère aujourd'hui une jolie patine.
On peut encore deviner les traces de bleu ciel, qui était probablement la couleur d'origine, lorsqu'on découvre le compartiment moteur qui semble complet. S'agissant d'un modèle MK3 cette Spitfire conserve tous les attributs du roadster anglais classique, conservant ses jolis chromes et son élégant tableau de bord central en bois. Affichant 72 477 km, la voiture a passé pour la dernière fois le contrôle technique en 1992. Elle n'a plus roulé depuis près de 30 ans et a été conservée à l'abri depuis. Avec un historique connu et sympathique, cette Spitfire constitue une belle opportunité de rouler dans un roadster aussi économique que jolie.

Indeed, this pretty little roadster was bought in 1978 for the son of our Hérault-based collector who had just passed his license. The latter was particularly happy with this gift, even if he confided to us that it was a car not to be put in everyone's hands and that he had experienced his first excitements at the wheel, and his first spins as a motorist. When purchased, the car was in used condition.
It was partially restored at that time and repainted according to the tastes of its young owner in a pretty olive-green hue, which gives it a nice patina today. We can still guess the traces of sky blue, which was probably the original color, when we looked under the bonnet, with the engine compartment looking complete. Being an MK3 model, this Spitfire retains all the attributes of the classic English roadster, retaining its attractive chrome and its elegant central wooden dashboard. Displaying 72,477 km, the car last passed its technical inspection in 1992. It has not been driven for almost 30 years and has been kept under cover ever since.
