More than 20 years have passed since Toyota released what was the last production version of its long-running Supra sports car. Designed to exceed the exploits of its competitors like the Mitsubishi 3000GT, Nissan 300ZX and Mazda RX-7 as well as an expensive exotic car or two, the Supra represented a high-water mark in the '90s performance-car landscape. This superb 1994 Supra is one the few that were not modified after enterprising tuners discovered its 800-plus horsepower potential, and a Supra had a starring role alongside a wheel-standing Dodge Charger in the first installment of “The Fast and the Furious” movie franchise.
The 3-liter 2JZ-GTE twin-turbocharged and intercooled inline 6-cylinder DOHC engine was factory-rated for 320 HP at 5,600 RPM and 315 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 RPM. One small turbo boosts from idle to 3,000 RPM, then hands off to the larger for uninterrupted power through the 4-speed automatic transmission with manual shift, and Traction Control assists forward thrust. The Supra could run from 0-60 MPH in fewer than 5 seconds, pull 0.95G on the skidpad and pull back down from 70-0 MPH in a shorter distance than most any production car thanks to massive disc brakes with 4-channel ABS and yaw control.
The modern rear-wheel-drive classic combines style inspired by the 1967-70 Toyota 2000GT with peak '90s-era high-performance engineering. More than 100 pounds were shed from the previous-generation Supra thanks to an aluminum hood, hollow rear deck spoiler, dished-out bolt heads and even hollow carpet fibers. The sport touring interior features bolstered leather bucket seats with a hooded instrument panel and wraparound center-controls console canted toward the driver with factory AM/FM/cassette/CD stereo. This single family-owned Supra Turbo will take you back into the '90s with its odometer reading of just 5,635 miles since new.
