A colossal weight saving of nigh on 100 kilograms for the Club Sport, achieved by stripping out sound deadening materials and heavy electrical equipment, helped transform the front-engined 928’s on-track characteristics. Based on the S4 model and benefitting from a lighter exhaust, new camshafts, and short-ratio gearbox, reportedly fewer than 20 were built.
The Guards Red example offered here was delivered new to Germany in October 1988. Remaining with its first keeper in Hannover through to August 2006, the Club Sport then found subsequent owners near to the cities of Frankfurt and Cologne before being acquired by The Curated Collection in June 2018 via August Porsche SA of Ohain, Belgium.
Wearing its Club Sport graphics on the front-left wing, sitting on a set of 16-inch forged aluminium wheels, and retaining its matching-numbers 5-litre V-8 powerplant, this exceedingly rare 928 displayed 63,691 kilometres at the time of cataloguing. Guaranteed to appeal to marque enthusiasts, this car is further complemented by its Porsche folio with books and manuals, spare wheel, jack, and first aid kit.
Avec un poids considérablement réduit de près de 200 kg par rapport à la version de série, grâce à l'élimination d'insonorisant et de lourd équipement électrique, la Club Sport à moteur avant affichait un tout autre comportement routier. Basée sur la 928 S4 à moteur V8 et bénéficiant d'un échappement plus léger, de nouveaux arbres à cames et d'une boîte de vitesses à rapports rapprochés, la Club Sport aurait été produite à moins de 20 exemplaires.
L'exemplaire de couleur "Guards Red" proposé ici a été livré neuf en Allemagne en octobre 1988. Cette voiture est restée à Hanovre chez son premier propriétaire jusqu'en août 2006, avant de changer de mains près des villes de Francfort et de Cologne pour être finalement achetée en juin 2018 par "The Curated Collection", par l'intermédiaire de l'agent August SA, d'Ohain en Belgique.
Avec son inscription Club Sport sur l'aile avant gauche, reposant sur des jantes de 16 pouces en aluminium forgé et équipée de son V8 de 5 litres d'origine, cette 928 extrêmement rare affichait 63 691 km au moment de rédiger ce catalogue.
