In January 1994, Porsche began production of the 911 in its newest shape. The 993-generation represented the final form of the air-cooled 911 engine. Replacing the earlier 964-generation model, it is reported that over 80 per cent of the design was altered. The chassis received a new alloy rear subframe, connected to a multilink suspension design in an effort to address concerns around oversteer that had been prevalent in previous versions of the 911. In addition, the 3.6-litre flat-six engine was fitted with Porsche’s VarioRam intake, which alters air flow into the engine for increased performance, resulting in a power output beginning at 268 horsepower.

Tony Hatter’s design retained the classic 911 profile while smoothly integrating the front and rear bumpers for a more modern look. As with previous generations, this generation of 911 could be ordered in a number of specifications and body styles, including in Cabriolet, Coupé, Speedster, and Targa configuration.

This desirably appointed 911 Carrera Cabriolet represents a fitting finale for the hallowed air-cooled 911. Built in May 1995, this Swiss-delivery example is finished in Midnight Blue over a Midnight Grey interior, complemented by a Midnight Blue soft-top. The car was factory equipped with numerous luxury options including air conditioning, heated leather front seats with power adjustment, a Nokia car phone with matching blue cradle, and a Porsche cassette stereo system. The 911 was further configured with limited slip differential and a six-speed manual gearbox.
