Presented in its final incarnation in 1963, the 356 C offered buyers upgraded ZF steering and suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and an optional 12-volt electrical system, among various improvements. Aside from the range-topping Carrera, the 356 C came with two engine options, a standard 1.6-litre C unit producing 75 horsepower or the optional SC engine, as fitted to this car, featuring higher compression allowing it to produce 95 horsepower.
First registered in 1964, this 356 1600 C Cabriolet was sold new in the United States. According to copies of its accompanying Kardex and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, it was originally finished in Light Ivory over a Red leather-trimmed interior, the specification in which it still remains. Optional equipment fitted to this example includes a lockable antenna, a camber compensator, fog lamps, a chrome signal ring, and two loudspeakers.
The car’s engine was replaced with KD P 0820080 in August 1968, which is noted to have been stripped and rebuilt in 2010 with uprated internals by Colpani Motori in Brescia, at which point the soft-top roof and the interior upholstery was also renovated by Interni Auto Maieli. More recently benefitting from an overhaul by Riverside Motors in February 2016, it is now offered with its history file including a FIVA identity card, original Certificate of Title, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, registration documents, and various invoices. A wonderful late 356, it would be the ideal car for summer months.
Proposée dans sa version finale en 1963, la 356 C affichait un système de direction et de suspension ZF amélioré, des freins à disque aux quatre roues, un système électrique 12 volts en option et diverses autres améliorations. Outre la Carrera, la plus puissante de la gamme, la 356 C était proposée avec deux moteurs au choix : une version C de 1,6 litre de série produisant 75 chevaux ou une version SC en option, celle qui équipe ce modèle, offrant une plus haute compression pour atteindre 95 chevaux.
Cette 356 1600 C Cabriolet immatriculée en 1964 fut vendue neuve aux États-Unis. Selon sa fiche Kardex et son Certificat d’Authenticité Porsche, elle a conservé sa spécification d’origine : une peinture Light Ivory et une sellerie en cuir Red. Cet exemplaire bénéficie de plusieurs équipements en option, dont une antenne verrouillable, une barre dite « camber compensator », des feux de brouillard, une commande d’avertissement chromée et deux haut-parleurs.
Le moteur d’origine de la voiture a été remplacé par le KD P 0820080 en août 1968, qui a été désassemblé et restauré en 2010 par Colpani Motori, à Brescia. Ses composants internes ont alors été mis à niveau, tandis que la capote souple et le garnissage intérieur ont été rénovés par Interni Auto Maieli. En février 2016, la voiture a été révisée par Riverside Motors. Elle est aujourd’hui proposée avec sa fiche d’historique qui inclut une carte d’identité FIVA, son certificat de titre original, un Certificat d’Authenticité Porsche, ses documents d’immatriculation et diverses factures. Cette superbe 356, qui date des dernières années du modèle, est une voiture parfaite pour les beaux jours.
