The Porsche 356 featured in these pages is a 1958 Model A, fitted with the 1600cc engine producing 60 hp, here in its ‘super’ version – that is, with twin carburettors – boosting the total output to 75 hp.
According to its Porsche certificate of authenticity and its datacard, this 356 was built by Reutter on September 27, 1957, and then sold by Sonauto in Paris on March 27, 1958. As factory options, it is fitted with rare chrome wheels, Dunlop Super Sport tyres and “Ponto-Stabil” wing mirrors.
Rediscovered in the USA in the early 2000s, its owner at the time—a keen collector—undertook an absolutely extraordinary restoration project that spanned several years. As the engine was missing, a new one corresponding to the model’s series was fitted. The bodywork, despite a sound structure, was completely stripped and restored. Numerous photos can be viewed in the restoration file.
Returning to France in 2020, it was imported by Villanueva Sport Auto and was displayed in their showroom for some time before being sold to the current collector.
On the road, this little Porsche proves agile and powerful, even in today’s urban traffic. This is an exciting opportunity for a collector seeking a 356 in concours condition, and in a particularly interesting variant!
