For 1974, Pontiac sustained the GTO package on the Ventura platform. This allowed the GTO to compete with the likes of the Ford Maverick Grabber, Plymouth Duster 360 and AMC Hornet X, among a few others. With a muscular look and a respectable package, only a tick over 7,000 were sold—slow sales that would put the GTO badge on hiatus for 30 years. This 1974 Pontiac GTO features the rare in-dash factory tachometer and is one of only 2,487 equipped from the factory with the 4-speed manual transmission.
Finished in white with a red and blue striping package, the GTO has a functional shaker hood and Rally wheels with Wide Oval tires, all setting it apart from the Ventura and letting people know it was a car meant for performance. The 350 CI V-8 engine was the only engine available at the time for the GTO, and this one breathes out of dual exhaust with rear splitters. The original two-tone interior is fitted with bucket seats upholstered in white vinyl, full carpeting, the original red shoulder belts and the center console housing the original 4-speed shifter bar with a black ball and auxiliary gauges.
Further optioned with power steering and a remote side-view mirror, this GTO will be sold with the original spare tire and jack, owner’s manuals, PHS documents and a window sticker.
