The classic lines of the 1974 Firebird join with a modern powertrain and pro touring chassis mods to create a best-of-both-worlds muscle machine. Custom-mixed red paint adds to the impact this car makes on the street. Stance contributes so much to a car’s execution. Here, the Firebird’s chassis mods, including a coilover rear suspension, make it look like the Firbird is being sucked down into the pavement. The road racer effect continues with fat, new Continental low-profile tires mounted on new, 18-inch Rocket wheels with black centers and polished lips.
Those tires would be a fitment issue within the standard Firebird fenders, but the Trans Am-style wheel openings provide the needed clearance. Speaking of which, those 18-inch Rockets make room for disc brakes at all four corners. The Trans Am influence continues with the shaker hood, which covers a 350 HP LS1 V-8. Underhood enhancements include a polished aluminum radiator and coated headers, through which spent gases flow into a dual exhaust system with Turbo mufflers. The LS engine is paired with a 4L60 4-speed automatic transmission, which is joined to a Moser rear axle with Positraction.
The Firebird’s interior is buttressed with a roll bar, beneath which are mounted racing bucket seats and harnesses. The back seat has been replaced by a custom storage compartment. Driver controls include a leather-rimmed Billet Specialties steering wheel mounted on a polished steering column and a B&M shift lever. Auto Meter gauges, including a tachometer, fill the gauge panel, and beneath the dash on the passenger side is a Kenwood head unit to control the stereo. When the Firebird is ready to hit the track, there’s a quick-fill tank mounted in the rear to speed refueling.
