The engine has been professionally built by Jotech Motorsports in Garland, Texas and has been dyno-tested at 900 rear wheel horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque. Brembo disc brakes with Alcon rotors and hawk pads scrub down speed efficiently, and Recaro seats support occupants snugly for a secure ride whether commuting to work or zipping around a track. Nissan Intelligent Key entry and pushbutton ignition makes things easy, while an 11-speaker audio system provides spectacular tunes.
Power windows and power locks add to the luxury and modern feel of this convenience-minded car, and dual-zone climate control ensures everyone is comfortable. One of the most iconic names in motoring history, the Nissan Skyline GT-R was produced in limited numbers between 1969 and 1974 and then again in 1989 to 2002. Available only in limited markets, the car retained a mysterious nature that teased the psyche of enthusiasts who couldn’t acquire one in their country. Realizing the limitations behind such marketing, Nissan began developing a GT-R for the world market in 2000.
After seven years and two prototypes, the production version of the all-new Nissan GT-R was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show. Blending the size of a four-seater with comfortable ergonomics and a useful trunk with unique aerodynamics, technologies and engineering, the GT-R was clearly straddling the line between world-class sports car and GT car. Media hailed the GT-R as one of the best-driving cars ever, easily competing with, and often bettering, competition from Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Corvette. Known as a halo car, the higher price and the level of equipment ensured it would be produced in limited numbers, despite availability to anyone with the right bank account.
The idea was to produce a car that would excite people about the Nissan brand, thus increasing sales.
