The 1985 Mercury Grand Marquis was the last year for the industry’s traditional full-size three-box design adherence before the demands of conquering the forces of aerodynamics became the hallmark of the industry’s advancement. This Grand Marquis was created from Ford’s Panther platform, which is shared between Ford, Mercury and Lincoln models, and has been used for 33-years straight, making it the longest-running full-size rear-wheel drive platform in North American automotive history. The 1985 model was the last one made inside the United States (St. Louis Assembly Plant) before production was relocated to Ontario, Canada.
