This custom-restored 1950 Mercury Eight is powered by a 255ci Flathead 8-cylinder engine customized with chrome finishes and yellow valve covers, backed by a 3-speed "3-on-the-tree" manual transmission. Engine modifications also include a custom intake and four 2-barrel carburetors. The dual exhaust is routed through glass-pack mufflers. This car has been lowered and rides on red steel wheels with chrome hubcaps. The exterior is finished in a Deep Black paint that carries over into the engine compartment. Details on this build include ensuring proper panel fitment that carries inside the inner fenders and under the hood. All chrome and trim have been refinished.
The rear decklid has had the handle and lock locations removed and smoothed, and a remote release for the trunk ensures a custom look. The interior customization includes seats, interior panels, door panels and a headliner finished in gray with red accents, complemented by a red carpet and red dashboard. The interior design was carried throughout to the trunk and under the rear decklid with a red carpeted trunk floor. The dash and steering wheel were kept original. This Mercury has been maintained in a climate-controlled garage through its life within a Mercury collection for the past 40 years.
