This spectacular Mercury Cougar Eliminator 'Boss' is one of only 2,268 Eliminators built in 1970. It's one of only 469 equipped with the Boss 302ci V8 (G-code) engine and one of only 146 equipped with the 4-speed close ratio (2.78:1) manual transmission. This car was added to the Mercury Cougar Eliminator Registry in August 1988. The Eliminator Registry verification letter from April 24, 2020, is included. It has been with the last owner since 2003. It was the product of a four-year rotisserie restoration that was completed in 2008. It was correctly restored to show-quality condition throughout. It's won 30 prestigious awards, which are included.

Some of the national awards are from the MCA, NMRA and IMOA, which include Best of Show, Best in Class, Best Body and Paint, Platinum Award and First Place. In 2017, it won the Best Eliminator Award at the Mercury Club of America 50th Anniversary. It was also featured in multiple magazines and on Power Nation TV. The magazines and DVD are included. As documented on the Marti Auto Works Deluxe Report, it was ordered on July 14, 1969, by Forrest Gate Ford, located in Chattanooga, TN. It was actually built on September 24, 1969, and released on September 29, 1969. The dealer ordered the car as a stock-dealer demonstrator.

As the VIN number indicates, it was built in Dearborn, MI, as a 1970 Cougar with a 302 -4V Boss engine. As the trim tag indicates, it was built in September 1969 as a Cougar hardtop. It was painted Competition Orange with Black Clarion Knit Decor bucket seats. It was equipped with a 4-speed close-ratio manual transmission and 3.91 Traction-Lok axle ratio.

This car was ordered with the following options: Eliminator Package, 4-speed close-ratio manual transmission, higher-ratio axle, Traction-Lok differential, courtesy lights, F70x14 belted tires with raised white letters, console, power front disc brakes, power steering, AM/8-track stereo radio, intermittent windshield wipers, Decor Group, tinted glass, Protection Group and heavy-duty battery. The Marti Auto Works Deluxe Report is included. It also has the original Ford invoice, better known as the 'Lois Eminger Report,' which is included. The exterior of this car is truly amazing. The body is extremely straight with great gap lines throughout.

The car was finished in its original color of Competition Orange Paint with black accents. The award-winning paint job is absolutely stunning. The car sits on the correct mag wheels with the correct Firestone Wide Oval Super Sport F70-14 tires. The rich-looking interior is in beautiful condition. It was restored in the correct Black Clarion Knit Decor with bucket seats. Everything in the interior is in working order, including the clock. A custom Autosound stereo system is concealed in the glovebox. The painted trunk compartment has been restored and presents beautifully. It has a matching spare wheel with tire, tools and trunk mat.

The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. The car is powered by a correct 1970 Boss 302/290hp V8 engine. This engine runs and performs excellent. During the rebuild of this engine, some upgrades were made for improved performance. It has the factory Holley 780 carburetor and a Pertronix electric ignition for easy starting. The engine is cooled by the factory radiator with electric fan that was added to prevent overheating. The engine is coupled to a close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt by well-respected Dan Williams. The 3.91 Traction-Lok rear axle has been rebuilt. It's equipped with power steering.

The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. The undercarriage is definitely lighted mirror-quality for a car show. Many extras are included. This vehicle has been recently serviced and detailed, which is documented with an invoice that is included. From the MS CLASSIC CARS Collection. PLEASE NOTE THIS LOT WILL NEED TO BE COLLECTED FROM SEEKONK, MA
