Manufactured between 1992 and 1994, the 320CE coupés and cabriolets were the most luxuriously equipped models within the range. Similar to their smaller engined siblings, the 320CE was powered by the 3,199cc, 24-valve, twin overhead camshaft, variable inlet valve timing, type M104 engine that produced 220bhp with a top speed in excess of 145mph. Standard equipment included driver’s side airbag and anti-lock brakes.
We are proud to present a rare, early 320CE Sportline cabriolet. Only 557 cabriolets were produced; only 87 of which were produced as righthand drive Sportline versions. The Sportline option includes a code 653 sports chassis, uprated and lowered suspension, quick ratio steering, wider wheels and tyres, Sportline gear knob and sports seats. Further extras include a folding front armrest, heated memory seats, cruise control and a performance steering wheel.
This Mercedes-Benz has the advantage of only having three previous owners. A full service history accompanies the car and includes 17 services recorded within the service book, 14 being from a main dealer and three from one of the South East’s leading Mercedes-Benz specialists along with every MoT and 16 tax discs from 1998. With this history, the vendor firmly believes that the low recorded mileage of 64,238 to be genuine. Recently, the wheels have undergone a professional refurbishment and the leather has been treated to a specialist clean. The vendor, who is particular about his cars, has stated that the car will arrive at the sale having had a full service and a new MoT test certificate. We are informed that the road fund licence is valid until the end of April 2013.
Presented with azurite-blue coachwork complemented by mushroom leather interior (generally considered the best colour combination for the model), this Mercedes-Benz 320CE cabriolet certainly represents a fine choice in terms of pleasure and future investment.
