Développée sous l'ère De Tomaso, la Bi-turbo est présentée à Modène en décembre 1981. Tout nouveau modèle, motorisé par un V6 à double arbre à cames par rangée de cylindres avec trois soupapes par cylindre et deux turbocompresseurs, le tempérament est résolument sportif alors que la ligne de ce coupé aux formes anguleuses est classique. La cylindrée et la puissance augmenteront par la suite avec les différentes évolutions du modèle, qui sera décliné aussi bien en berline et en cabriolet. Lequel est élaboré par Zagato et dénommé " Spyder ".
Les améliorations techniques de la Bi-turbo " II " (222) de 1985 et les modifications stylistiques apportées à celle-ci par Marcello Gandini en 1988, bénéficient aussi au Spyder, qui fait l'objet d'un dernier remodelage esthétique et technique en 1991. Ultime évolution du cabriolet Bi-turbo, avec le V6 2L double arbre à cames à 24 soupapes (type AM475), le spyder présenté est le plus désirable. De teinte " blue sky " avec capote bleu foncé et intérieur mi cuir et nubuck gris plus couvre capote assorti, sa configuration est raffinée. Raffinement auquel participent les boiseries claires et la montre de bord dorée.
Immatriculée pour la première fois en 1994 en Italie, la voiture est entre les mains de son actuel propriétaire depuis quelques années. Passionné il a pris tout le soin nécessaire à la remise en route de la voiture, qui serait restée stockée une douzaine d'années avant son achat. La voiture affiche aujourd'hui un peu moins de 50 000 km, très probablement d'origine au regard de son très bel état de conservation. Elle est équipée des superbes jantes 16 pouces à serrage central propres à cette version, d'un autoradio Blaupunkt et d'un saute-vent, ainsi que de deux assisses d'appoint à l'arrière. Le dossier de factures qui accompagne l'auto permet de justifier d'un entretien sérieux.
