Chassis No.: SCCGA1118YHC80063
Engine No.: 18K4FN04353799
Registration: X394 CNO
The original Exige was launched in 2000 with a naturally aspirated 1.8 L Rover K Series inline-four engine in VHPD (very high performance derivative) tune. It is rated at 177bhp at 7,800rpm in standard form. There was also a ‘track spec’ version with 190bhp available. The car has a five-speed manual gearbox, and a claimed top speed of 136mph with a 60mph achieved in 4.7 seconds. The first generation Exige used the round, less aggressive headlights of the first generation Elise, although the Elise was updated soon after. The Series I was built until 2002 with just 604 examples in total made and the car was not replaced until the Series II of 2004.
First registered 27th September 2000, this stunning Azure Blue Series I Exige specified with cream trim has covered a mere 21,340 miles from new. This is number 63 of only 604 examples of the iconic Lotus sports car ever produced and it is dubbed one of the best handing cars of all time. Supplied with a comprehensive service history, the car was last serviced in September 2019 at 20,937 miles at John Seal Lotus Specialists this coupled to four other service stamps from Lotus main dealers. Described by the vendor as one of the best cars he has ever owned having only covered 1,500 miles in the last two years and has been extremely well looked after.
This Exige has recently been subject to a new MoT test certificate and pre-delivery inspection prior to auction. Offered with three sets of keys, all original Lotus books and folders. A truly is a fabulous opportunity to purchase a rare desirable sportscar and in the words of Evo magazine ‘if you can’t quite stretch to a Challenge Stradale in your collection then I think the Exige would fill the ‘beautiful road-racer’ slot beautifully’.
