An impressive custom build, this 1961 Lincoln Continental Convertible has been finished in Grigio Scuro, a deep, rich, gray hue more closely associated with Ferrari than Lincoln but worn well by this iconic car. The interior has been restyled with custom red leather upholstery defined by quilted stitching and custom Lincoln embroidery. The dashboard has been wrapped to match and contains a centrally mounted, 12.9-inch iPad integrated with a custom Bluetooth stereo system, as well as a Holley EFI 12.3-inch Pro-Dash instrument cluster. A custom center console splits the front bucket seats and hosts controls for the air conditioning by Restomods and polished cup holders.
A custom three-spoke steering wheel has been installed lending a bit of sporty flare. Under the lengthy hood is a 6.2L/525 HP Chevrolet Performance LS3 V-8 crate engine with a throttle body EFI system and EFI intake manifold. Feeding the mill is a Holley 340 LPH in-tank electric fuel pump (part no. 19-340) situated in a custom-made fuel tank crafted of aluminum. Finished in black, the engine offers a unique, futuristic look with classic cues, situated in an engine bay that’s been adorned with a billet firewall and bulkhead, and a custom billet radiator.
The Stage 3 4L65E automatic transmission was built to accommodate 1,000 HP and uses a billet input shaft drum and an upgraded clutch package with a 2200 stall converter. The chassis employs an OG Air Ride kit with an Airlift Performance 3P ride height controller, second compressor harness kit for 3 P/H systems, two 5-gallon polished aluminum air tanks and a Viair 485 dual compressor Platinum Kit. The suspension has been treated with a set of upper and lower control arms, durable bushings and bearings, and airbag-mounted shocks, with other modifications specifically utilized to maintain the low stance without extensive modifications.
Braking is courtesy of a Hydro booster, Wilwood master cylinder and 14-inch Baer rotors with red calipers. Wrapped in Redline Diamondback Classic 22-inch custom tires, 22-inch custom AG luxury wheels sustain the Grigio Scuro theme and nod to the turbine-style wheels used by Lincolns through much of the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s.
