In 1986, legendary Italian sports car manufacturer Lamborghini blazed a startling new automotive trail when it debuted the LM002, arguably the first high-performance SUV, with a rugged-looking four-door exterior hiding a 5.2L V-12 engine sourced from the iconic Countach. Produced for seven years, the LM002 saw just 302 examples built. Then, in 2012, Lamborghini returned to the supercar SUV concept with the debut of the Urus prototype, a thoroughly modern, high-performance SUV that featured sleek but aggressive styling, extensive use of carbon fiber for weight savings and a 5.2L V-10 engine sourced from the Gallardo.
By the time the Urus went into full production in 2018, the exterior styling had been heavily revised from the concept and the powertrain had been updated to include a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V-8 mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission that transmitted 657 HP to the ground via a torque vectoring, all-wheel drive system. Capable of catapulting the Urus from zero to 62 MPH in a mere 3.6 seconds, Lamborghini’s newest SUV was slowed back down by what was at the time the largest set of carbon ceramic disc brakes on the market—17-inch at the front and 14.5-inch at the rear.
Powered by the twin-turbocharged 4.0L/657 HP V-8 engine and 8-speed automatic transmission, this 2024 Lamborghini Urus S is finished in blue with a white and black interior.
