This 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo has undergone a Heffner twin-turbo conversion elevating its engine output to an amazing 1,400 HP—an incredible 905 HP increase over the stock rating of 495 HP. Presented in a tri-yellow color scheme contrasted with a black leather interior and black 5-spoke 19-inch wheels, this Gallardo is as visually impressive as it is fast. There was an air of anticipation when Lamborghini introduced the Gallardo for the 2004 model year. This was the second Lamborghini model built under the patronage of Audi, and the combined attributes of Italian style with German engineering were widely considered to be the pinnacle of automotive fusion.
Under Audi’s direction, small-scale Lamborghini suddenly had access to design, production process and manufacturing resources provided by the larger economies of scale accessible to the parent company. The result was vastly improved quality control without diminishing the distinctly Italian soul of Lamborghini. The Gallardo has proven over time to be a unique tasteful blend of speed, comfort and reliability wrapped in a quintessentially Italian-exotic body style. Powered by a wild 5.0L V-10 engine that makes its own distinctive Italian exhaust soundtrack compared to the traditional V-12s, there is no doubt this is one serious automobile.
The V-10 mates to Lamborghini’s proprietary E-gear transmission, a custom version of Magneti Marelli’s electro-hydraulically shifted 6-speed manual transmission. Meanwhile power is apportioned through an all-wheel-drive system that helps this nimble machine absolutely rocket off the line. The goal of this twin-turbo Gallardo was to make it lightning fast on the open road, yet docile in city traffic. This car is heavily optioned with the requisite creature-comfort features expected in such a machine with dual-zone climate control, privacy glass, power windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry and a premium sound system with CD player and satellite radio connectivity.
If you are lucky, you will find another Gallardo, but it is doubtful it will have 1,400 HP like this example.
