Lamborghini unveiled the successor to its famed Murciélago V-12 supercar on February 28, 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show. Dubbed the Aventador (like all modern Lamborghinis, after a prized line of Spanish bulls), the aggressive-looking supercar was penned by designer Filippo Perini using styling cues from both the Murciélago and the limited-edition Reventón. Utilizing a lightweight and ultra-rigid, racing-style, carbon fiber monocoque chassis as the foundation of the Aventador, Lamborghini mated it with an entirely new, 60-degree 6.5L V-12 engine that produced 690 HP at 8,250 RPM and a neck-snapping 509 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 RPM.
All of this power and torque was then fed through a 7-speed, automated manual transmission with a computer-controlled, single-plate clutch to give the Aventador lightning-fast shifts that took just 50 milliseconds to complete. Finally, all this motive force was then fed through a Haldex Traction all-wheel drive system that enabled the Aventador to rocket from 0-60 MPH in an astonishing 2.9 seconds and reach an independently confirmed terminal velocity of 220 MPH.
Contemporary reviews were effusive in their praise of the Aventador, with Car & Driver proclaiming it “The best Lamborghini ever,” and MotorTrend extolling it as “The friendliest V-12 supercar in the world.” In 2013, with sales far exceeding initial expectations, Lamborghini released a roadster version featuring twin, removable, carbon fiber roof panels that weighed a mere 13 pounds each and could be stored in the front luggage space. This 2015 Aventador LP700-4 Roadster from the Jerry Brewis Estate Collection is one of just 413 examples produced that year and presents with just 2,685 miles on the odometer.
Finished in Nero Aldebaran (black) with Nero Ade (black) and red interior, this Aventador also features a Sensorum sound system, black 10-spoke wheels shod with Pirelli P Zero tires, contrasting red brake calipers and power windows, locks, mirrors and seats.
