This 2017 Aventador LP700-4 Roadster is one of just 278 Roadsters produced that year and shows a mere 164 miles on the odometer. The Aventador model was unveiled at the February 2011 Geneva Auto Show as the replacement for the Murciélago as the company’s new flagship model, and it boasted a number of breakthrough technologies that combined to make it the most impressive Lamborghini ever. Its carbon fiber monocoque and aluminum substructures employed such techniques as Resin Transfer Molding, prepreg carbon fiber weaving and other composite materials to approach the torsional stiffness of a contemporary F1 car.
Double-wishbone pushrod suspension with Ohlins shocks and giant 15.7-inch front and 15-inch rear carbon-ceramic brakes combine for impossible agility at speed. The Lamborghini’s entirely new 60-degree, 6.5L V-12 engine produced 690 HP at 8,250 RPM and a neck-snapping 509 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 RPM, and it was capable of rocketing the Lamborghini’s occupants to 217 MPH. All of this power and torque was fed through a 7-speed, automated manual transmission with a computer-controlled single-plate clutch to give the Aventador lightning-fast, 50-millisecond shifts.
Finally, all this motive force was then fed through a Haldex Traction all-wheel drive system that enabled the Aventador to rocket from 0-60 MPH in an astonishing 2.9 seconds on the way to that aforementioned top speed. Contemporary reviews were effusive in their praise of the Aventador, with Car & Driver proclaiming it, “The best Lamborghini ever …,” and MotorTrend extolling it as, “… the friendliest V-12 supercar in the world.” With sales far exceeding initial expectations, in 2013, Lamborghini released a roadster version, featuring twin, removable carbon fiber roof panels that weighed a mere 13-pounds each and could be stored in the front luggage space.
This 2017 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster is a wonderful example of what that roadster would evolve into. It’s finished in Grigio Adamas (silver) with the custom Ad Personum Nero Ade (black) and orange interior package with contrasting stitching. Other features of note include a Lamborghini sound system, the travel package, Q-Cintura heated seats, parking assist, a transparent engine cover and Silver Dione forged wheels.
