Jaguar introduced the Mark II Saloon in 1959 as the successor to the Mark I. The new car was very well received, featuring added visibility, strong performance, and luxurious interiors the cars were purchased by executives, celebrities and even featured in film and television. The Mark II’s were offered with three different engines a 2.4-liter, 3.4-liter and 3.8-liter engines. Cars equipped with the 3.8-liter engine were capable of 125-mph top speed, making it at the time, the fastest production saloon in the world. Equally impressive was the car’s 8.5-second 0 to 60-mph time. Jaguar produced the Mark II through 1967 at which point the naming designation changed to 240 and 340. Over the Mark II production run, Jaguar built 27,848 Mark IIs with the 3.8-liter engine.

This 1961 Jaguar MKII Saloon is presented in burgundy with beautiful complimentary chrome trim. The car rides on blackwall tires with factory wheel covers. The Jaguar’s engine bay is nicely detailed and proudly displays the 3.8-liter inline six-cylinder engine. It is reported that the engine numbers on the head and block correlate to the car’s current data tag. The engine is paired to a manual transmission with overdrive. The interior is completed in red leather with accenting burl wood dashboard and trim accents. The seating configuration features bucket seats in front and a bench seat in the rear, all of which are completed in red leather with pleated inserts.

Additional interior features include a two-spoke black-coated steering wheel as well as a radio with cassette player. Included with the Jaguar are the car’s service records. These cars are highly sought after by British car collectors, with many claiming the Mark II is the best looking Jaguar saloon.
