According to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate included in its accompanying documentation, this 1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II was manufactured on November 29, 1968 and distributed through British Leyland of New York. It was the subject of an extensive yet sympathetic restoration completed in 2018 by Images Auto Body in Campbell, California, which paid careful attention to preserving the car’s originality where possible. Prior to its acquisition by its current owner and the subsequent comprehensive refurbishment, it was kept in careful long term storage by its previous owner and now shows an odometer reading of just 12,562 miles.
Significantly, it features a matching-numbers 4.2L inline-6 twin-cam engine, which was dismantled, inspected and refurbished as needed while retaining such original items as the twin Stromberg carburetors that still show their intact and original stickers. The original clutch was replaced at the time of the restoration, which also included dismantling and inspecting the 4-speed manual transmission and rear end, resealing as necessary. A new exhaust system was installed, and the original asbestos brakes were also replaced with upgraded components.
The body also underwent a sympathetic renewal, being disassembled and receiving detailed prep work before being skillfully refinished in the factory-correct Cream paint. The black interior remains mostly original, including the dash, carpets and underlay, with the notable exceptions of newer seat covers and armrest, as well as a refurbished Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. The original wood-rimmed steering wheel and shoulder belts were also retained.
This nicely finished Series II roadster features excellent chromed wire wheels fitted with Universal Sport thin-whitewall radial tires and is offered with an extra set of Pirelli tires, a tool kit, California six-digit Black plates and fulsome documentation that includes the aforementioned Jaguar Daimler Trust Certificate listing the vehicle’s details from original factory records.
